We’ve got three terrific intimate Saturday evening events coming up over the next month. Book now!
Sat 7 Oct: Eyebrow; Kolophon: a duo of duets with video art by Kathy Hinde. Eyebrow, the duet of Pete Judge (trumpet) and Paul Wigens (drums, artwork) launches its new album. Kolophon is the new duet of Agathe Max (violin) and Drew Morgan (cello). Doors 1900; tickets here.
Sat 28 Oct: Barrow&Bradley live at the Old Barn. Barrow&Bradley is a traditional-music-infused improvising duo from Bristol. Paul Bradley plays guitar alongside Fiona Barrow, a classically trained violinist who, by her own admission, “defected to the other side”. Doors 1900; tickets here
Sat 11 Nov Harmonium: a candlelit Remembrance Day performance by 26 female singers. The composition, an ongoing collaboration between Norfolk’s Sian Croose and Bath’s Su Hart is an experiment in wordless vocal sound, created by layering voices using interlocking rhythms and harmonies. Doors 1900: tickets here
Hot soup and local organic cheeses from the Bath Soft Cheese company served, also local beer and cider.
Expect some magic on 7 October: Eyebrow, Kolophon and Kathy Hinde
From Kelston village fete: a message to any rude boys from Bristol city…
Another couple of rough mixes from da Mighty Beaconaires’ cheery fundraiser for the House of H.I.M at our local Kelston Village Fete on Bank Holiday Monday. The Caribbean food sold out (twice over); the sun shone; money was raised; a good time was had by all.
Thanks again to our guest stars, Graham for the stage, Pauline for the food, Klive and Will for the sound and Paul for the photos.
Message for Rudi:
Ali Tanya Guy and Fellowdread Nyah shared the vocal leads.

Kelston fete rocks to da Mighty Beaconaires with Fellowdread
Kelston Records provided the music for this year’s epic Kelston Fete 2017. It came in the form of a musical celebration of the legacy to the community of H.I.M Heile Selassie I. The band was da Mighty Beaconaires, with guest stars Pete Judge, Ross Hughes and Fellowdread.
Reflections of an English village fete: dub poet Fellowdread joined da Mighty Beaconaires. Click below to hear Liquidator with his poem Words.
It was a fundraiser for Fairfield House, the former home of H.I.M, gifted to the City of Bath for care of the elderly. The hope is to raise sufficient funds to create an independent charity which could act as steward for this unique royal and sacred legacy.

Thanks to Paul Clarke for photos, and to Klive and Will for sound engineering
BOOK NOW – Eyebrow, Kolophon and Kathy Hinde Sat 7 Oct
Kelston Records’ groundbreaking 2017 season closes with two brilliant Bristol duos wrapped up in a visual treat. The bands are Eyebrow, and Kolophon, with visuals by live artist Kathy Hinde.
Eyebrow’s sound is built on the part-improvised, part-planned, looped explorations of drummer Paul Wigens with the wonderfully versatile trumpet player, Pete Judge (of Three Cane Whale and Get the Blessing) “Ambient, minimalist and rich. Wonderful” – AAA Music
Formed this year, Kolophon is the duo of French violinist Agathe Max and cellist Drew Morgan (of Modulus III). Agathe is dreamy, and Drew is wild. Their growing collaboration is not to be missed.
